My son has been playing the sax for about 4 years and has steadily improved. He started with the alto and now plays the tenor. He would now like to have a go with the soprano. Problem: I`m on a really tight budget and so money is an issue. However, I also understand that you get what you pay for! Can anyone offer any impartial advice re the most appropriate soprano given the circumstances I`ve just described? Brasswind and Woodwind have a Bandnow model for $299. Does anyone have any oppinion on the quality of these?

Thanks -- Martin

I hope this could help u. I believe saxaphone is just a piece of metal to help you produce ur idea and ur expression. For me, i would choose an "ok" saxaphone and focus on my skills such as embochure, tougueing and tone. With those skills, u can produce ur idea prefectly eventhough the sound might not be that prefect. After you have enough buget, go for a better one.
