I just bought a crystal flute. If anyone has any advice or anything to say on the topic, please do so.

It must look pretty gross when you see all the condensation and saliva dripping down inside.
Where did you buy it from?
What brand?
What price.

Wow! That sounds really cool, and really pricey! And I bet tuning is no problem, either, because the crystal wouldn`t change shape with heat. My one piece of advice is to treat that flute like your own child. Though crystal is durable, if you drop it hard enough (hopefully that never happens), it will shatter into a million pieces. A metal flute would only get a few dents, which are repairable damages. Also, since you were able to spend enough to buy this, I don`t need to tell you to keep your eyes on it ALL THE TIME. Posessions of mine have been stolen in the blink of an eye.
I hope you have fun with it, and that it plays well!
P.S.
I have 2 questions for you. How much did that thing cost? A crystal flute sounds like at least $10k. Also, if you ever get a picture of it, if it`s not too much trouble, do you think you could send that to me (my email address is linked to my name)? I want to see it for myself.

wow Sam, your really lucky to have one of those! I think I`ve seen them before...Forgot where though. I agree with Thomas, you should take care of that flute just like if it was a baby. Oh I also think the whole condensation thing is a minor problem. I mean, all you have to do is get your rod and clean it out. And I`m also curious to know the price too. Hey if its a crystal flute...how would you clean it?

I don`t think it will cost 10K, I searched on google and saw that there are probably only a few companies and I only saw "Hall Crystal Flutes" and the C piccolo costs $55 USD and the G flute costs about $65 and the D flute costs about $89. I saw these before too and perhaps I`ll buy one soon!

So it is not a Boehm flute... just a tube with a hole for blowing into?
If it were a Boehm flute in C, it would be VERY heavy!
BTW, The expapnsion of metal flutes with temperature is very, very small, so small as to be irrelevant. It is the temperature of the air INSIDE the flute that has a big effect on pitch.

It is a cool flute. I have never played the flute before and thought I would try a new instrument. Actually, it only cost 65 dollars, yeah. It was nice `cause even that is almost out of my price range. And, also, yes, it is gross seeing all the condensation and I`m still trying to figure out how to clean it. Haha. But it sounds beautiful.

Oh, yeah...it`s a Hall Crystal Flute. I bought it at a local music store. You would not have heard of it.

(Well....)

"I see that the embouchure hole is very high like 1 cm away from the top..."
Probably the functionless part (acoustically) above the crown cork (and perhpas the crown cork itself will have been shortened, not the embouchure hole moved up.

Personally, it`s all greek to me. I have never played the flute before. I`m actually a pianist. But, I thought I`d try it.
