Wood-what type of wood are you thinking of, though?
(P.S. the Jessie before me is a different Jessie- you can recognize me because I often use the three dots ...)

HEY! Ok, i am going to fix something I said. When I said silver, I meant plastic. I dont know if it is like plastic or not but it is Blck for the body and metal for the head. I am going to finalize this forum. <<The piccolo I am talking bout is the piccolo you need to use for marching band! Wood piccolo`s are better for inside...use ONLY plastic ones outside...they are better

Yeah, if it is balsawood, go with wood. I think Dustin is on the right track with plastic, though. If you can find a balsawood pic, go with it-if not, go plastic.

Wood, but I believe it`s definitely more of an issue of workmanship. I could play my wooden piccolo and compare it with a silver Haynes, and the Haynes would sound far better.

i play plastic with metal headjoint, all silver, and all wood professional. I would have to say the wood is better for what you asked(sorry couldn;t resist)

edit: if you can get a silver or plastic with metal or silver headjoint please do. all plastic piccolos tend to be very airy and harder with the upper register

How are full plastic piccolos? Do they still sound shrill?
