Thank you.
(Not that I take pride in writing things like that-I often mispell words...)

now now Jessie, if I remember correctly, I was the one helping you with your spelling during the writing of "Angel of Music", correct? And you could offend Alicia saying things like that...shame on you. Be nice, I`m watching you...

"I mean i`m a hardcore flautist n pianist n guitarist n muso but i think naming ur instrument is a bit far.
It`s like having sex with ur pet dog.

Ah ha ha ha ha.

I`d say it was a lot more like naming your pet dog, but that`s just me. My flute is called Bob and my picc is called Little Bob. I never actually adress them by those titles though.

So far I have only named my piccolo Lilly. If you haven`t guessed the brand is a Lillian Burkart. I know... how original. I haven`t named my flute yet. I have had it for a few months and the only thing that comes to mind is power or powerful.

If this helps I named my flute Flutey. I love my flute and I think the name you name you flute should come from the heart even if its a little silly. My best friend named her Clarinet(how do you even spell that) Clarice (she achally spells it that way) and my other best friend is still working on a name for her flute. Best of luck with the name game. Flute Rules!!!!!!! :-)

Some people are just too uptight.

My flute`s proper name is "Prybar" (like something you lift a rock with), or when I`m referring to it in the third person; "the whistle". Last night I asked my bass player to "hand me my whistle".

As for myself, I like the word "fluter" just because it`s funny and slightly irreverent. When someone asks what I play in my band, I say "I sing and I blow on a stick". Of course, I usually need to explain.

I call my flute and picc collectively "The Girls". That`s as far as I`ve gone...though I do refer to them very possessively and fondly as, "My Old Girl", or "My Girl".

They`re special. I also tend to tout their superiority as they are older Gemeinhardts. I`ll have to check out some newer ones to see why everyone says that "my brand" is yukka.

My flute has a very even tone throughout, though tends to resist a bit too much for my liking in the high register. But that is probably just me. Guess that`s just her reminding me I need to pay more attention. I love the low register. It is gorgeous, deep, supple and fluid. With practice I`m able to maintain a gorgeous, almost faerie like high pianissimo. Like tip toe-ing. She does my bidding...but we`ve known each other a long time. Her key action, silent, quick, even...steady. She doesn`t fail me (as long as I take her to visit Jeff once a year!)(`92 Gemeinhardt 3SB-20 years playing)I picked her from THREE "identical" flutes.

My piccolo is AMAZING. I cannot believe I get that sound out of a "student" instrument. It`s a `93 Gemeinhardt 4PSH bought after a year of working/learning on a picc with half it`s pads just ack/leaky!

She can sound dark and mournful, so so quiet, or cut through the whole band with all the perk and twinkle of Sousa. This picc rocks hard core. I actually stopped someone from a wind ensemble I saw play and said, "WHAT are you playing??" That`s how I found out about the "little girl". I can`t say enough about her...very very easy to play in tune if I just listen to her and remember which alternates she "needs"(only two!), or wants.

Hah...sorry. Late night.

If you don`t have anything nice to say, then don`t say anything at all.

I do! hehe. I failed to mention earlier, that naming your flutes names of the opposite gender tends to raise errr... uncomfertable, probing questions. For that matter so do ones of the same gender.
