I have an audition for a youth orchestra at the end of August or beginning of September. For flute I am thinking about playing a part of Concertino by C. Chaminade or a part of one of Mozart`s Flute Conertos. I am also gonna audition on piccolo during the audition. Do you any of you guys know of any good piccolo songs that you think would be good to audition on that would be around the same level of difficulty as Concertino or the Concertos? Thanks for your help.

There`s a Vivaldi piccolo concerto that is very popular, similar to the Chaminade. You should check that out.

I would say if it`s for an orchestral audition then go for G or D which are the two main keys that an orchestra plays in.

Would you consider a march to play for audition? Sousa`s marches always gets a directors attention. Maybe you should try The Glory of the Yankee Navy, Stars and Stripes, Invincible Eagle, Under the Double Eagle, The Black Horse Troop, King Cotton, or one of his concert songs, Easter Morning on the White House Lawn...etc...
If you don`t want to do a march, then you should check out www.jwpepper.com and look under the categories on the left. There are MANY to choose from.
