I would like your decision on, if Haynes is a good brand for piccolos or not.

Haynes have traditionally made very high quality flutes and piccolos.
Now some instrument makers (not just flute/piccolo), with a top reputation in the past, are resorting to partial manufacture in Taiwan, China, Indonesia, and India for certain models.
Whether these models earn the same respect over time has yet to be seen.
I don`t know exactly what Haynes is doing at present.
One of the nicest, sweetest-sounding piccolos I ever played was an old silver Haynes. I wish I had bought it.

Oh. Well, I want a piccolo for marching band basically. I am in concert but there is only one piccolo for concert and it`s not me :-\. But, hopefully I get to be the picc. for concert . Anyways. I was thinking about Gemeinhart as well. Would you recommend Gemeinhart for marching band? I heard some complaints about that brand though.

You do realize that there`s a vast difference in price and quality from a Haynes Piccolo to the Gemeinhardt brand.
The Haynes would not be the best choice for marching. To my thinking it`s like using a Ferrari to deliver the mail. Although I`ve heard that with the recent shift in the Haynes co. their reputed quality has not been as consistant as in the past This should probably change with time.

I know that Haynes is maybe the best kind of flute/piccolo brands out there but,I was under the impression that Yamaha is one of the better brands also.If this is true, why doesn`t anyone ever recommend them?

I HAVE definatley considered Yamaha. Yamaha is the only brand piccolo I ever played all my life. I LOVE it. I love the weight and the head joint on it. It is like my second girlfriend, lmao. But anyways, it is too expensive for me at this time. And yes, I have just noticed that Haynes is expensive too. I am thinking about buying this yamaha32 on ebay. It looks in pretty good condition. But I would have no idea how it plays. O man do I want a Yamaha piccolo. I don`t think I could ever play another kind of brand :\
