I was wondering; Which piccolo is better and why? The YPC-62 or the YPC-81? They both look the same but the 81 cost more; why is that?

I don`t really think either one is better. If you want a better piccolo, look into the Burkart line. Just my opinion.

For more info look at http://www.yamaha.co.jp/english/product/winds/index.htm
Dont forget to click on the `specifications` tabs.
The main difference accounting for a higher price would sem to be a higher degree of hand-crafting. This could mean that the undercutting of the tone holes is carried out by one of the most experienced workers, etc.

I agree with KC, check out the Burkart line and try out the Global piccolo.
