I would have thought you only need to do 3 octaves in C major/minor. Even for Grade 8 ABRSM every other scale is 2 octaves. However you should be able to order scale books from fluteworld.com or justflutes (you`ll have to google the web address as i can`t remember off hand).
If you don`t want to pay for them, then work out the key signatures for each and write them down by hand.

MOst scales are mostly 2 octaves not 3. PLaying a B major, C Major is made of 3 ocatves if you can get your low B and C to come out.

I have had to play all scales over three octaves in the past. I had to play every scale over the range from low C (or B with the footjoint) to high C, C# or D depending on the scale. So for esample, A major would start on low A, then ascend the first two octaves, but then continue ascending as far as high D before descending. On returning to low A, you would continue to descend to low C# before ascending again to return to the starting note.
You`re probably hoping you don`t have to do this, but it`s best to check just in case. If you do, it is hard work but brilliant for really getting familiar with the top notes. It is good to do silent practise of these to save on straining the embochure on too much high register work.
Fingers crossed though, these 3 octave scales will not be required - just best to find out now and not in the audition!

No there isn`t....there`s only 3. If you don`t know what you`re saying is completly true don`t post it at all.
Simon83, I think what you are refering to is whole range scales.

piccolo_queen,
there are only 3 octaves. i think what you are talking about is high C. there are 4 C`s on the entire scale. i think you`re just confused. an OCTAVE is an entire scale: from middle C to high C for example. and if you count them, there are only 3 COMPLETE Octaves.
just think of those arrows as octaves. there are 3.
LOW C -----> MIDDLE C -----> HIGH C -----> UPPER C

Three octave scales are not required for regionals or All-State (expect for C, as that`s pretty basic), but they would, if played well, certainly give you an edge. And many players who advance do play their scales three octaves when asked a scale where this is possible. Nevertheless, be sure that you can play all scales fast and even at two octaves first before adding on the extra octave. My first year trying out for regionals I didn`t play a scale three octaves and I still was chosen.

Piccolo Queen,
Do you even play the flute? What are they putting in your drinking water. Or does a four octave scale involve going from bass flute, then switching to your regular flute and then switching to piccolo?

Piccolo Queen,
Flight of the Bumblebee is not that difficult. The hardest piece I`ve played is the Khachaturian Concerto, but if you`re aiming for Flight of the Bumblebee go for it. I think everyone gets a good laugh out of your posts.
