I`ve found ads for a couple of these for sale on campus - one an "AS" and the other an "ASII". what`s the story with these flutes?
as far as i can tell this is a model numbering scheme from a few years ago (before the 2n1, 3n1, etc thing); i`m guessing "f100" means "most basic model of flute".

It is a Student Yamaha flute. F100 and F100 SII (i.e. series 2) are equivalent to YFL221. The different model naming system was used for Pacific countries.
Although I was once told by the importers, I have now forgotten what the "A" means, possibly something to do with being marketed in Australia.
In my experience these models are in no way inferior to YFL-2** flutes. They did not exist prior to the 2** series.
