Why have pain when you play if you can prevent it? That only makes sense. I am not about to injure myself and have it disrupt my career.
The Dr. Scholl`s pad would not stay stuck to my flute.
Some people see it as being ugly, but I don`t care. As long as it is comfortable that is all that matters to me.
If you get a chance to see Jen cluffs flute, then you will see what I mean. Now, she has got the right idea!
Some of the best things that I ever did was change to an offset G on my flute, put the padding on it for under the left hand, and have my C key raised up. Just doing that has improved my playing so much.
It is all about comfort! Comfort! Comfort! No pain for me...

"It can get quite red and throbby when I get to my 4th hour, but it`s a good pain."
How is that? How can that kind of pain be good for anyone playing the flute?

I say, if it works, go for it! I don`t want pain either. Having gone through a significant wrist injury this year, along with a shoulder injury last year, I definitely do not want to aggravate these areas. However, I still am better off with in-line (funky little pinky fingers)rather than offset.
Now, do they make velcro soft pads for the ache in my knees and hips?!?!

Would using toothpaste to clean the outside of a flute be a bad idea? We bought one off the internet, and in our weather, it started to smell like an old penny, and is turning an off color. I`ve tried alcohol, and that helps for a little while, but the smell keeps coming back...

Well I guess by "good pain" I mean something that will not lead to a worse problem and it is a sign that you are putting in good practice.

Mrs. Carbo,
I was thinking the same thing (about a post of mine), but then I realized it was posted in the "mold" thread.
Or something like that...

I checked both, and I`m SURE it`s gone. If I`m being moderated for saying "yes I clean my flute every day" then I`m really really in trouble. It`s not the first time a totally harmless post of mine has been deleted either. Ffs

Once recently I saw a sudden flurry of at least a dozen new troll posts that all appeared within a few minutes.
The moderator must have been very busy then. I am charitably assuming that when he/she is removing many unacceptable posts at a time he/she accidentally removes some innocent ones.
It also seems that the moderator has removed a significant number of recent new people who came to the forum doing more damage than good. One has to suspect that they may have been all the same person, or a small group posing as many.
I, for one, am enjoying the current peace here.
