Huh? That is not the flute range for any flute. The flute is capable of going above a high B flat.

I think what he means is, What is your flute range. I can play from a low C to a high B flat.

I can play from a low B to a fourth octave F#.

Likewise, without the low B, unless I add some tubing to the end of my `low-C` flute. I also play a C an octave lower than low C by putting a cork in the end of my flute.

I can play from low B to top E - so about 3 1/2 octaves
(can`t quit manage top F# yet lol)

Lol, I like the last comment "Memories". Just because there was this one person in our band. He was awesome, he played flute. He could get up to a 4th Octave G# and it sound GReat. I can go from a low C Natural to a High B Natural.

.... and some experts say there are acoustic design reasons why 4th octave G# is impossible, although I suppose it might be if you drastically alter the crown cork position, just to favour that particular note. I don`t have enough expertise to know.

Has anyone tried to play the hightest notes on a student flute? I can get up to D fairly easily, but find it impossible to go beyond that.

In the pit music I play, never. Top C seems to be the accepted upper limited, and even that is very rare.

In symphony orchestra music, I`d say still pretty rare.

In accompished soloist music, I guess it is a LITTLE more commmon to go above C.

We mostly explore those notes just for the challenge. To include them certainly reduces the boredom of scales.

By top C do you mean the in the space above the fifth leger line, or something higher than that? I`m confused now, I thought there was no fourth octave. I can`t play that C. The highest note that comes out cleanly for me is the G below it. And since I have a C foot flute my lowest note is the C. I`m quite fascinated by that idea with the cork though.

I`ve encountered more 4th octave D`s more often then 4th octave C`s for some odd reason. Maybe classical composers avoid 4th C while modern composers want to throw in an abnormally high note.
