Yeah... I am lucky. It did take me a while to save up for. I am also really lucky to have a husband with a good income.
It takes time. My first year of marriage was hard. We had nothing.

My first year of marriage was when we had the most money! It seems life has taken us on a few long and bumpy roads since then!
Your pictures are great. Very nice flute, and I also covet the crown jewel!

Oh wow, i love that engraving on the lip plate. Did you get that customized? If so, I would like to have a Dolphin engraved into my piccolo Lol, maybe that would be asking a little too much. I don`t think there is a shop around where I live that does customized stuff. I know, there`s a shop in Ohio that my aunt lives by.

God almighty... that is obscene. In Scotland we don`t pay ANY of our tuition fees, and in England/Wales they have recently put up fees to £3,000 per year. When I said uni was expensive, I meant LIVING! How can anyone be expected to get a degree in a system so hideously expensive as that?

The school where I did my undergrad degree is now over $40,000 US per year, but few students really pay that much. Most students received significant financial aid. My financial aid package was very nice and included some very generous school grants, though I still owed about $26,000 in Stafford loans upon graduation.

I wanted to add that I use Hagerty silver dry wipes to clean up flutes and keep tarnish away. They work wonderfully.
They don`t leave powder behind that can get into your mechanism like some of the treated polishing cloths for flute. They also have r-22 in them to help prevent tarnish.
When I overhauled one of my flutes and had it disassembled, I used some of the Hagerty`s with the r-22 in it and I have not had tarnish on that flute in two and a half years!
I love this stuff!
Here is a link to it.

It is in the second column 6th one down on the page.

"How can anyone be expected to get a degree in a system so hideously expensive as that?"
The cost is definitely overwhelming. I am sure that finacial aid, scholarships, grants etc. are generally involved, but that doesn`t make it completely accessible to the regular everyday person.
Even though my area reportedly has one of the best community college systems in the country, even that is not cheap. It is still going to be over $1000 a semester (not including living costs). Then , of course, there has to be a transfer to a 4 year university to get that degree (then grad school?).
I only hope that it will pay off in the long run ( I`m looking towards my future---someone needs to take care of Mama!!)

"The school where I did my undergrad degree is now over $40,000 US per year"
That`s awful. The ACTUAL cost of university education in Britain is about £3000 per year (more for science/ medicine etc obviously) and we in Scotland pay nothing. How can they justify charging that, because it seems to me that the cost incurred by the unversity is nothing like that at all.
How does your college/ uni sstem work anyway? I don`t quite get it.
