Hi,
For my world music cultures class, Our term paper is an ethnographic paper, and obviously, since i`m a flutist, I want to do it on the flute! I was thinking about comparing the orchestral flute with flutes from around the world; or a comparison between an american flute choir and a flute ensemble from somewhere else (brazil or africa?)

--the problem is that I`m having a hard time figuring out exactly what to do, and how to go about it--- if anyone is familar with flutes from around the world, or a world flute ensemble, or has any suggestions, please reply!
Thank you!!

Suggestions:

1. Do a search on "shakuhachi", and you`ll come across heaps of info on such as http://www.shakuhachi.com/

2. Do a search on "pan flute", because this more primitive version of flute is a lot more common in primitive cultures. Perhaps add a country name in your search.

3. Search under the words "flute" and whatever country name you wish.

e.g. "flute brazil" gives over 100000 hits, including Brazilian Flute Association (not in English)
