Hey, Do any of y`all know any good duets for flute and vioin? The only ones we can find are some of Mozart`s simple ones, which we like and all, but we would like some more.
Thx

I`ve only played a duet with a violinist once and it was "Ashoken Fairwell" which is a very nice piece written for a Civil War movie/series.

Really? That`s cool. I`ve actually played it solo, but I didn`t know it was a duet.

That is such a pretty piece. I would love to see the duet of it, I only have the solo part for it.

I`ll have to check to see if I still have the parts somewhere. I have soo much copied music in a big pile that I have been intending to scan and file away on the computer.

Mazas wrote a lot of quite tuneful music for violin, including many simple duets. Many of these would be suitable for flute & violin. You may need to put sections of the flute part up an octave.
Do a Google search on [mazas violin duet]. The first hit I saw has ones to download free.

Kulau wrote many duets for flute. There is a "Concertante" album and a "Brillante" album. Lat I heard, recordings were available too.
I believe there are good duets by Quantz, who wrote a lot for flute.

Melly, almost any flute duet book will work with violin, check out the ones by Rubank for 2 flutes, vol 1 and 2, ed by Voxman
