Personally i prefer more classical pieces especially Faures Sicilienne and Fantasie and Vivaldis `Cantabile` from his concerto in D minor, in my opinion these are must plays on flute!

La Verginella, by Bertoni, arr by Beriot for violin & piano.

Possibly originally an operatic aria with guitar accompaniment.

Would also suit flute & classical guitar.

Simple, thoughtful, beautiful piece. Very much appreciated when I played it at my father`s funeral.

The Prokofiev sonata is my favorite piece. Every time I hear it I find new things about it that I like. It is also fun to play.

The theme to Kung Fu (a `70s TV show starring David Carradine, for you kiddies). It was the first time I really noticed flute.

Really, I don`t have a favorite to play. I have a very improvisational approach and my interpretation of a song is in constant flux. What I like will change from moment to moment. M favorite thing to do is turn on the local jazz station and just jam along.

I like flute in a lonely, bluesy context like a whino humming himself to sleep. Flute can be a very dark and sad sound. I`ve been playing aong to a lot of Tom Waits recently, particularly "Waltzing Matilda".

Yours is as valid an opinion as any, but in my world art has no "should"s or "should not"s.
