I know two professionals who use heavy, hard leather cases, made by cottage industry leather craftswomen, if that helps.

My teacher used to use a bag that was very much like the bags that doctors used when they use to make house calls. He could put his music, lunch, a few wasted students and a couple of flutes into them.

If one is buying a case cover, make sure that the flute case fits inside it before spending the $$. Some cases don`t fit some covers. Another option for some might be to buy those cases that look like they have a case cover built around the case, a shoulder strap and they have a zipper to keep the flute inside. I don`t recall the brand but they are ok.

I think the cases that Bilbo is referring to are the "pro-tec" cases. They make some that also have a pocket in front which can hold a piccolo case or other accesseries. I`m not sure if fluteworld sells them or not, if not, you can try wwbw.com or samash.com or music123.com

I have a cavallero case cover but hope to get a Wirkilla leather case cover some day, very expensive, and I also carry everything in a lawyers style briefcase

No. Thewse were custom made by hobby/craftsperson leather workers. They had no other pockets. They were clumsy. They were heavy. They had a slight twist in them becasue of the way the stiff leather ws stitched. The hard leather would contribute to significant wear to the outside of the flute case. Water could get in the around the lid part....

But they WERE covers used by professional players. (Inexplicable to me!)

Perhaps that is why I addressed criteria rather than just giving a straight answer in my first post.

Patrick, I had a Wirkkala leather case cover for a single flute case, but sold it when I started using a combination case. I had one made with an inner pocket, but still found that I didn`t have enough room for my extra supplies that I like to carry with me. The pocket was rather small, so not convenient for my needs. Here is the website to them if anyone would like to check it out.

Maybe she just has trouble typing. I know that it took me forever to get the hang of it. Now spelling....I work at, but I admit I am a horrible speller.

What is a Bam case? That is a whole case not a cover. I wouldn`t want to lugg that thing around all the time, though it is different. Cute for maybe the younger crowd that wants to look hip. Kara is long past being hip. Lol!

Not to offend the poster Lera but
I can`t imagine that the First Act case would have any durability. The flute is not of any quality, local repairmen won`t touch them and when local band directors see that a student has gone to Walmart and bought one of these things, they tell them to take them back.
Respectfully,

Maby not in your city But in MN Its hard to get your hands on the first act flute.
I got mine for about $600.00
And IT WAS NOT FROM WALLMART.
And then I bought a case with out Saxafone for my Sax for about $100.00.
Not a Joke.
