Hello all,
Is there any procedure to get rid of scratches and dents on a flute?

Dents, yes. Scraches, if it is solid silver you can have them buffed out, if they aren`t that deep. If it is silver plated, you are better off leaving them alone.

It is also possible to burnish out scratches, in both plated and solid silver bodies. But we`ve been there in another thread. It needs skill and can be time consuming. I seldom bother; it is seldom warranted.
Many flutes are sliver PLATED solid silver, partly to disguise a grey look in the solid silver. Most manufacturers will keep pretty quiet bout that. If you buff it, the more you buff, the bigger the grey area, as you buff off the silver plating!
Most dents take me an average of about 15 seconds each, plus another 15 to get the tools out and set up the mandrel in the vice.

I know that Powell is one of the few companies that don`t plate over their silver bodies. I am thankful to that too.
