From the American Heritage Dictionary...
Pedant
1. One who pays undue attention to book learning and formal rules.
2. One who exhibits one`s learning or scholarship ostentatiously.
And no, the irony hasn`t escaped me

Forgot one.....
Pedant:
1. One who pays undue attention to book learning and formal rules.
2. One who exhibits one`s learning or scholarship ostentatiously.
3. A person who describes a flutist as: "a woodwind musical instrument performer specializing exclusively in edge-tone, air-reed, transversely manipulated, analog, musical instruments."
Now I had to correct the spelling in two places on my definition all by myself. Who`s not paying attention huh??.
Moving on to the definition of "Ostentatious".....whazzzat woyd??

One of my pet peeves is a student who shows up without their book and tells me that the dog mauled it. A few times, it has actually been true. Now should I be doubly peeved at them and their pet?

My cat used to sit on the top of my piano and if she didn`t like what I was playing, would take the music away with her teeth and, if she wasn`t caught in time, eat it. She`s going senile now, bless her.

How cute! I have a cat that will steal my husbands shorts if he lays them on the bathroom floor when he goes to take a shower.
One of my bunnies likes to steal my music if I leave it out on the floor. She will shred it too! She also goes into the book self and takes her favorite book off of it called Bunny my honey. No joke. With 11 animals in the house it can be a mad house at times!

Kara, do you live at a petting zoo? How do you stay sane?
Of course I shouldn`t talk my family use to have 5 guinea pigs, a rabbit, 20 chickens, a horse, a dog and two pigs.
Those were crazy times!
