Hey Everyone,
What flute stand would you consider the best the Blayman, wooden, or acrylic? Right now I have a unsturdy collapsible stand. I am looking for something that is very sturdy, something that is safe for my flute, and something that will last me a long time. Thanks for all your help.

I would have to say that the stands that I make are the best. I make flute and piccolo stands together made of wood that can be taken apart for easy storage. I will try and get a picture posted of one on my website.

Okay here are the pictures of the one I make. I also make single ones just for the flute, but I don`t have one around at the moment to take a picture.

The blayman stands are my favorite besides the ones that I make.

I use a Konig & Meyer four-peg base with flute and piccolo pegs when I`m on flute gigs, and oboe/EH pegs when I`m doing the oboe thang. I`ve never had it tip over and I like the flexibility of swapping out pegs depending upon which instruments I`m playing at any given moment.
When I`m at home or not practicing, however, they are all parked safely in their cases. I accidently lost a flute to clumsiness when I was a kid. I took a break from practicing and left my trusty old Gemeinhardt on the bed. My younger brother came in, probably just to annoy me because that`s what younger brothers do, and sat on it. I was crushed--and so was my flute.

Go to woodwind.org and search stands. The subject has been discussed ad naseum. More info than you could care to know.
I`ve used K&M fold ups and blayman and prefer blayman as it is the most secure stand you can buy. Like a weighted punching balloon the weight of the base has a very strong force to keep an instrument upright even if someone brushed against it. Tripod stands like camera tripod stands will tip quite easily. The blayman rods are rubber the base is metal. You can hold 3 standard flutes at one time on the sqaure base; 2 Clarinets and 1 flute; a flute, clarinet, and piccolo. However 3 full sized instruments would be a bit close for comfort on the square base and why they have the rectangle base or octagon base (which I would love if they had a center hole... so odd!).

the best I have used is Blayman, because you can buy a large base and different size pegs for flute, alto, picc, etc. They are expensive and heavy but last forever

Kara, very nice looking stand! Do you do the woodworking yourself (including the scroll design), or have you found some prefab pieces to use?
How do you find the time?

Thanks, Kippsix. I found the scroll wood pieces at a craft store and the other stuff was done with a router.
