The M2 was the earlier model before they change is over to the 2SP.
In my opinion the M2 was made a lot better.

My son has been playing the flute for 1 year. He wants a flute for Christmas. We looked at and played some 2nd hand flutes. He liked the Gemeinhardt m2 best. They were the same price, $169. Does this sound like a good choice?

For $169 it sound pretty decent. Does it need any repairs? I like Yamaha the best for student flutes, but they are too pricey, but that sounds like it would be just fine if it is in good shape.

Can you specify "repair?" I`m a newbie to this. Let`s say, if it needs new pads? The price is actually around $130.

You would have to have a flute tech look it over.
