Can anybody dig up that thread I started on the sad experience of servicing a brand new off-brand piccolo? I`ve forgotten the name of the thread.

Or was it one of those threads unfortunately wiped by the moderator?

The summary is: Don`t touch it. It may cost you a lot more than the cost of the piccolo to make it playable the first time something does not work, which may well be straight away, and the intonation may be all over the place, up and down by as much as half a semitone (a quarter step?). IMO there is probably still no such thing as a worthwhile piccolo that is a lot cheaper than the known brand names.

I wish that post would stay up on the top of the list permanently. It was a great post. I will go see if I can find it.
