Hello everybody. I recently got braces, about five days ago. Although they no longer hurt, my tone on the flute is not my usual tone! Shocking! I was wondering if anyone had any advice, or perhaps excercises that may help. Cheers!

sorry to be blunt, but you`ll have to get use to it and be glad your not a braces trumpet player. When you get them off your playing will be great!!!!

You`ll be fine. Make sure your cover all your braces with your lips and mabey just practice a bit more and dont be worried if you get a little in-print of your braces on the inside of your lips. Your tone will be soo much moer inproved when you get them off so its totally worth it.

Here`s another tip: play really easy stuff and then gradually play harder and harder music. thats what I did. i was not happy about getting braces because i lost a week of practicing my audition piece for band.

Try playing easy pieces in all octaves to improve your range

A period with braces may actually help in the long run, because it encourages the player not to pull the lips tight against the lower teeth, hence improvement in tone control.
