I know! Preety cool! I go on the Powell site all the time. I am a Powell fanatic, I guess you could say. Lol! I got to tour the factory last year and try out several flutes, piccolos and headjoints. It was such a blast.

I love my flute and I am very happy with the tone I can get on it - not as happy with the amount of practicing I am able to do these days!!

One of my former students works for Powell now - I`d love to go have a tour sometime too.

tootieflootie, how were you able to get soldered tone holes on your 402? I thought Miyazawa only made that model with rolled tone holes?

They only made one a few years back, so it`s a one-of-a-kind!! I think it`s actually called a PA-403. But they don`t have them available now. I just got lucky I think

Brittani what the heck is a b flat flute? You have been playing for 4 years and don`t even know that the average basic flute is in the key of C?

Dennis, have you had your flute checked for leaks recently? That could be the problem.

Brand - Armstrong
Model - 104
Keys - closed
foot - good old C
Like it? I`ve had it for over 7 years now, so I`m definitely attached to it, even though it`s not the nicest one out there. I`ll keep it just for posterity when I get my open- holed flute.
Play piccolo? Used to rent, haven`t played in about 2 years
Modifications to flute? Nope
Different brand head? Nope
Ability - Pretty good for high school (making All County Band and All County Orchestra as a sophomore is no easy feat) but I would never brag!
Education - Lessons in school for the past 7 years, private lessons since November
Other - My poor flute used to break a lot (springs popping, trill keys breaking, pads coming out, those corky things coming off, you name it, it`s been broken) but it`s been great in the last couple years. Seems to be hard to keep in tune recently, keeps going way flat, could just be me though.

God, I talk too much.
