I had a huge band (200-300 people) rehearsal last week (Not Marching) and and two people dropped there flutes on the floor, and 5 others opened there cases upside down and spilled there flutes all over! Yeesh, the people who have nice instruments abuse them, and the poor people who arent able to have a nice instrument cherish theres and would do anything to have a nice one.

That is terrible ab!!

People shouldn`t do that!!

And people wonder why I am so against getting some young kids professional top dog models! Geesh!!

AB look at it this way. Less than 1% of the people you were in the room with mistreated their instruments. (Using of course the numbers you posted.) If less than 1% of the people involved are not careful , the other 99% treated their instruments well.

look at it this way, that was just in the flute section of maybe 30 so that changes your figures to 20%. Needless to say it happened in other sections too. Plus dropping an instrument ONCE is too many times.

Sorry to say this Dotted Q but it happens in more than just here school, this is a common occurrence in other schools as well.

While I am quite aware that there are some children who have a tendency to act like children, I don`t think it was appropriate to make a post about them being "stupid".

There are always people in this world who do not do things the way we would like them to. There are people who appreciate the same things as we do (like flute) and there are people who don`t give a crap about how they treat their instruments. 20% of those kids were irresonsible. 80% were not, yet we heard nothing about how the concert was played, if AB had fun doing it, or anything at all positive.

I guess I just get a little frustrated seeing lots of posts on here where people are slamming others. Maybe a flute dropper at this concert had never done anything like that before and was absolutely mortified that it happened to her instrument. Accidents happen all the time and I do not feel like it was necessary to come here, call people names, and bring up an old argument that will never be resolved over whether or not a young adult "deserves" what she has.

I would have preferred to see the post like this:

I went to blah blah concert this weekend and felt very frustrated over the lack of care of flutes around me. Several people dropped their horns! However, overall I had a good time here! We played blah blah blah blah.

See, it is not always what you say, but how you say it! Just a suggestion to ponder.
