Hi, Are you talking about wind and brass instruments being harder to play than string instruments? I think that there are parts of playing winds and strings that are difficult. Woodwind players have to learn how to double tounge, use vibrato, etc. but string players also have to learn vibrato and use the bow in different ways on the strings. Playing a string instrument is not as easy as it looks! I play the flute and piccolo and I think that string instruments are harder to play but someone who plays the violin could think that wind instruments are harder to play. Once you get used to playing a certian instrument it doesnt get as hard to play. Hope that helps clear things up -Katie

Umm, you need 2 use your breath and diaphragm in both band and orchestra - actually whenever u play.

I think that orchestra is harder, but thats prob cos our orchestra is by audition and band isn`t. Also, there are generally more places available for woodwind instruments in bands, so its harder to get into orchestra (which usually only has 2 or 3).

If you are talking about band flute music being harder than orchestra flute music i would probably agree with you but it depends on the difficulty level of the band or orchestra. I`m in a class AA band and class A orch (both are highest classes) and the band music is a lot harder because in the orch music youre either resting or playing background parts most of the time and it gets pretty boring . . .
