I've been drooling for a long time for a bass flute; yes drooling, and when I found a bass flute on ebay for $0.80 I couldnt controll myself...

but then I realized it was stupid so I havent fullfilled the buy, and I think the seller is quite nice about this, but anyway, have anyone any experience with this flute?

I would really love one if it's playable... because I'm into free improvisation I'm sometimes playing it without the mouthpiece like a trumpet...

I've seen them from £200 to £120, or buy now for £80 gbp and £70 gbp shipping.

here's is a link to see what I'm talking about...

For that price, I would be VERY weary. The seller looks to be trying to make all their money on just shipping. I think that is pretty deceitful and I would never trust them. Too many scammers like that now coming from China, it really is too bad.

Did you not notice that the shipping is GBP 130?

I should add that I bought a cheap Chinese flute from an American dealer for $60 and it does work reasonably well. So I guess if you want to spend a couple hundred bucks for a chance to experiment it's probably worth what you pay for it.

Very hard for me to tell if it even is a Bass flute since you can get a curved head in a Concert C flute, Alto , Bass and Contra Bass flutes. The photos (I should say the one Photo) aren't defined enough to tell if there are finger extensions for the left and right hands so this may very well be just an alto flute or a standard Concert C flute. Then for Item number: 7397765838, I don't like the hokey advertising gimmicks with the girls marching band moving gif. or the peace-out onion thingy. They've GOT to be kidding ?!
That being said, the bamboo flute Item number: 7397632541
or the Silver/jade flute
Item number: 7398003328 may be cool to play with.

Anyone know how much is GPB=135 ?

135 British Pound = 236.164 US Dollar
way too much of a chance to take if ya ask me.

I think that people these days especially need to pay a lot of attention to advertisements and the way that information is presented to make you want to buy a product. In this case, the advertisement is trying to include every possible reason to buy this product almost in one sentence. Vivid, almost fantastic color. Don't miss the chance to buy a collector's item.
I think that these are the same people who were selling a Piccolo as a flute. so naturally they'd try to sell a C Flute as a Bass Flute. Maybe the seller is really a , pixie, agnome or in honor of the Irish holiday, a short leprechaun. Makes me wonder what they'd call a real Bass flute. "Flautus Colossus Giganteum"

but I still need a bass flute... I found this sale on ebay pretty interesting, be sure to check out the name ; )

note; this is not that I want to buy the "Curved whistle of rare platinum" but it's the only instrument from china where the seller actually have bothered to take a photo of the instrument....

They probably stole those pictures from another auction or site. I have noticed that those sellers from China are doing this all the time. I even so one where a seller from China stole pictures from an auction (that was still going at the same time) and they even had the other sellers logo right on the pictures. What an idiot!!! Lol!!!

Because of all the scammers now, I make it a rule never to buy anything outside of the US anymore off line. It is sad that it has come to this.

one would have to be 8 feet tall to play a bass flute with a straight headjoint

A free for what it's worth assessment of this EBAY sale:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=
7397831349&ssPageName=ADME:B:DS:UK:28

These flutes are being sold by the same source as that "New Bass FLute".
He has a whole store full of stuff 503 items for sale at http://stores.ebay.co.uk/pekincollection

The instruments are basically Chinese knock-offs. The use of the word Platinum bothers me and may be an outright lie and isn't used in the description. Other companies make flutes with curved head joints as well so that younger students or doublers have an easier time holding them. The shipping charge puts the price about right for them to make a nice profit and they are far enough away (usually) so that you can't have much recourse when you discover that the flute doesen't play well after (or even if) you get it in the mail. IF you buy one of these flutes and decide that you don't like it, are you going to send it back for a refund? The guy may say he never got the instrument in the mail or just forget about you and then you'd have to go to Peking to try to find him or her to punch them in the nose.
