I don't think that Trevor James has really caught on in the US yet, but they seem to be fairly well-regarded on the other side of the pond. Some of the top flute specialty shops in the US carry them as one of their preferred student/pre-professional lines, including Cinncinnati Fluteworks, Flute World, and JL Smith. I've not tried one myself yet. I have heard that they are made in Taiwan by the same manufacturer as Dean Yang flutes which also seem to be well-regarded. I can't verify that however. That may just be rumor.

Here's some links, for reference:

Have you played it yet? How does it feel to you?

I haven't worked on one, so I can't tell you the over all quality of one, but I did try and all solid silver. It sounded okay, but I
have found other brands that I sounded better to me. Note though, that I was in a small room when play testing it, so the acoustics could have been playing with my ears. The mechanims seemed pretty decent to me and it had a good response. Good luck to you!

Does anyone know how much 800 Uroes is in American dollars?

Oops, I mean Euros.

800.00 EUR = 962.638 USD

Today anyways. That'll probably change tomorrow.

Here's a handy-dandy currency converter: http://www.xe.com/ucc/convert.cgi

Over here in the uk trevor james are quite big and are considered to be reasonably good flutes. I have a few pupils who play on various trevor james flutes. The 10x is a fair flute and the upper range flutes are quite good and over here some students use them at university level.

Thanks you all.

I know these opinions are always personal and contradictory.

Only that if I could buy it new for the same price then it it is not quite a good deal. I will check that, though everything is considerqbly more expensive in continental europe.

Being a chinese manufacture I feel less confident about it. (I did not know that).

Sorry I am writing far from home on a weird AZERTY keyword that drives me mad and I make more typos than usual...

Thank you again.

Unknown_entity, I also think it's Taiwan. I tend not to make much distinction, though it may be a mistake from my part.

But I am not much interested in instruments manufactured there anyway, so I decided not to buy this particular flute.

The information I received in this Forum was very important in this decision.
