Program:

W.A. MOZART Serenade No 13 in G major, K.525 "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik"
-This was just orchestra directed by Galway.

W.A. MOZART Flute Concerto No. 2 in D major, K. 314
-Galway directed and then went into his flute thing. His cadenza was just amazing.

W.A. MOZART Symphony No. 40 in G minor, K. 550
-Galway just directed this one. The Polish Chamber Orchestra flutist Andrej Kryzanowski showed up for just this one piece. He looked quite young and very small/boyish, but had quite a powerful tone.

D. OVERTON "The Magic Flutes" ~ an homage to Mozart
-Sir James Galway and Lady Jeanne Galway duet this premiere piece that is a cumination of most of Mozart's works into one piece for two flutes and orchestra.

Galway wore his tux with golden vest and played on a gold flute (either his Muramatsu or Nagahara... don't know what he's playing now). Jeanne wore a lovely light yellow dress with colorful springish embroidery and played her gold flute.

It was a wonderful performance with Galway giving humurous introductions to the pieces and making things up along the way.

Left out the finale... Danny Boy (by Mr. Traditional, lol). Hauntingly beautiful brought the house to tears.

So he is back to playing gold. I can never keep up. Either way he always sound wonderful.

It sounds like it was fun. When I met him a few years back and I was still playing on a Yamaha, he played my flute. I don't think that flute had ever sounded so good before! When I sold the flute later on I should have advertised that he played on it and touched it , maybe I could have sold it for more. Lol!! People go for that stuff.
