I have an older model Gem. Piccolo, with a 4 digit serial number. It is a model <CSS> which I believe means solid silver, keys, mechanisn, body heajoint and all. Well, not the cleaning rod!

This was a 'garage sale' deal that I had overhauled to be my outside/traveling piccolo. I don't want to damage or lose my beautiful Zentner w/Burkart headjoint! The Gem. appeared to have been abused , but my repair technician did a nice repair/overhaul on it.

Anyway, the tone is fairly poor. I just looked at the far edge of the embouchure hole, and there is a burr on it. It also appears to have had the lip-plate re-soldered to the head. Joe B, is this something that you could fix for me? Or should I lurk on eBay until I find a silver head from an old <CS> model?

The newer model Gem Series 4 piccolo headjoints do not fit right, so I can't just buy another headjoint, unless I can find one of these older beasts on eBay and use just the HJ.

I can look at it for you. If it's been resoldered, there's also the possibilty that there is a step where the riser and tube come together. If you want to send it to me I'll have a look.

PM me and I'll send shipping info..
