Though this question is posed more towards highschoolers, feel free to answer even if you aren't ^_^

I always wondered the validity of my band director's statements toward our school music program. He would always say "You don't know what you have until see what everyone else has 'cause, trust me, most school don't have this" referring to high level music we could play, I suppose. So I decided to find out what exactly is out there and now I kindly ask if you could tell me what you've played in your schools. Thanks

Festive Overture by Shostakovich

That's just a small selection of some of the pieces we've done over the years. Hope that helps. What kind of pieces have you done?

Because our school has four grade level bands, there's A LOT of music I can't remember lol. Some pieces on the easier end of the spectrum (i.e. freshman year) were American Riversongs by Pierre LaPlante and Fate of the Gods by Stephen Reineke. Next year, we played Rise of the Firebird by Reineke again and From where the Sun Now Stands by Don Hill. This past year in our top group (wind ensemble), we played Toccata Marizale, Four Scottish Dances, and Symphonic Metamorphosis to name a few......

I have been out for quite a few years, but here is what I can remember playing.

After A Gentle Rain
Chester
Happy Farmer
Perschetti (sp) Symphony #5 if I recall correctly. It might be a different one.
Overture to the Wasps

I can't remember the last piece, and I certainly don't remember the marches. If I can find the last piece in an old program or remember it, I will update this for you.

Vesuvius is an awesome piece! and incantation opens with this low register flute melody--pretty neato
