I attended college as a full time student majoring in music for one year, and attended for another two years part time. I studied with the Principal flutist in the Symphony Orchestra here for two years. I also studied with the flute teacher at another local Univeristy for over a year. I hope that answers your question.

Good for you. That is better than what I did. I never stepped foot into college and never wanted to. Now that I am older, I wonder how far I would have gotten myself if I would have went, but still don't regret it. I wouldn't have lasted as I am too strong willed and like to do my own thing. And did I mention sensitive? Lol!

it definantly gets WAY easier...after about the first semester is concert season, but that music is typically harder, no marching. by the next year, the new freshmen will be looking at you thinking how the heck you made it through. I started marching band in 8th grade, a year a head of everyone else!!! yay4me...lol...but it was the same 4 me...good luck

dont worry about that, on my first football game, i went on the field holding my piccolo backwards and I had waited until the second song to fix it...the first song was mission impossible!!!

Memorizing the drill and music isn't that hard... and we sound good but then towards the end of the season... the weather... omg...the weather...its so cold! omg! your hands can't move! you are never warmed up! tuning is horrible! omg! Our brass dissapears...... well we still have a good sound but it really is horibble....some of us use plastic mouthpieces but they don't have as good a sound...it helps but our sound takes a beating... i hate the weather towards the end (in so you get an Ohio)10:00 and its freezing.... omg i go on and on... its a nightmare! omg.... someone probably said something like this.... i just wanted to post something.... omg! why do i write so long posts...

It's true. Drill and music isn't as hard as you think it is. It still takes practice and a good amount of focus to get the drill right though. IN my freshman year, I marcched clarinet. I could play and march, however my marching would be out of step sometimes. I totally worked on it and now I am not out of step anymore.

Wow, one practice a week? I have three a week, then two because of competitions.
