what are you all working on at the moment ?
and what are you finding difficult in that piece?

I'm doing the eldin burton sonatina, i've got the 1st and 2nd movements pretty much sorted, but am doing double tongueing exercises before i even try to tackle the 3rd movement !!

and the piazzolla tango etude number 4 .......... a south american syrinx :) interesting to play !

Ooh, on that third movement I can never get that repetition part with the triplets going from f#-G#-F# is thows me off everytime! The more I practice it the worse I get!

The Wren Polka (piccolo) I find the triplets where I have to triple tong in a few spots to be bothersome.

A Theobald Bohm study Opus 15. It gets tricky with all the accidentals.

The second movement to Liebermanns Sonata. I just started this and I am sure it is going to be a very long time if or ever I will get it up to the correct speed. Again, the accidentals is what gets tricky for me.

About playing... I'm preparing Moschelles double concerto with oboe. I and my friend and collegue, the principal oboe, will play this in october, accompanied by the orchestra where we both work at.
Besides that, comes Dutilleaux Sonatine, JSBach Eminor Sonata, Chaminade concerto, Cesar Franck Sonata and some Brazilian stuff too, all with the piano and basso continuo will be played by the bassoon.

From these pieces, some of you should be able to guess what I'm preparing for

Well, I'm getting ready for an audition, so of course I'm brushing up on my scales...Majors, minors in their verying forms, whole tones, all that fun stuff, then I'm refreshing my skills with the Poulenc Sonata (specifically the second movement), and just finishing cleaning the 3rd movement of the Chesky Concerto (which is a terrific piece that some of you guys might be interested in....It was just premiered at the last NFA convention by Jeffrey Khaner, and it's got a little bit of a Latin influence...It's tons of ink on the page, but really quite manageable and VERY interesting and different). Then I also am working on a few solo pieces purely for myself...The Carmen Fantasy, Burton, Martin, Prokofiev that kind of thing....Just recently got them, so I'm still picking my way through them, but they're coming along.

I can't wait to get it back. Nothing quite seems to fit me or excite me when playing like that flute does. It is perfect in everyway for me. I only had the Nagahara head on it for a couple of days before I had to send it out. That was really hard to do, I practicaly had to pry it out of my fingers and pack it up. One more day left and I get my baby back!

Alas, I'm not working on anything terribly exciting at the moment... But I am looking for some good solo flute pieces if anyone has any suggestions.

Well, I feel sure we can pull together some suggestions...What level music are you looking for?

I'd prefer something around a grade 5 but I don't mind a challenge.

Since we are on the subject of what we are working on I have a question.

I am working on playing Taffanels Andante Pastoral and Scherzettino with my extremely talented (this guy can play anything!) pianist at my church. Does anyone else find it hard when playing with the piano part on the Scherzettino in the very beginning when first comming in? The piano part throws me off. Any suggestions?
