Kara, that is a tough passage
try it slow, of course, then try it without the ties in both parts, accent the first beat of each measure a few times

Thanks Patrick, I will try that and see if it helps some. I am fine when I play it by myself, but trying to jump in at the correct tempo with the piano is what throws me off. Once I have it started, then it is good. I think I have more trouble keeping time with slower then faster. My fingers always want to play fast.

if that doesn't work, get the piano player drunk...

WriterGirl25, the various grades differ greatly in different areas. Some scales go from 1-6, some 1-8, others are reversed and 1 is the hardest (and who knows how many other variations), so perhaps if you listed a couple of pieces you've done recently at approximately the level you're looking for, that would be a bit more useful.

Patrick, if I got him drunk it might actually slow him down a bit which would be nice. I don't like the original speed on that piece it sounds better a tad slower to me.

This is what I posted previously when referring to Burtans third movement.

Ooh, on that third movement I can never get that repetition part with the triplets going from f#-G#-F# is thows me off everytime! The more I practice it the worse I get!

I can play it now thanks to Dennis! I didn't even think to use my C# trill key on that passage. What a difference! If you don't have a C# trill, then good luck! I find a use for that key every day.

Isn't the C# trill just amazing? I actually try to fit it in where I don't necessarily have to (of course, never when it affects tone or intonation negatively or anything) just because I like it so much.

Yes! I can't live without it now. I even have one on my backup flute. I wasn't sure if I would use it and almost didn't get it when purchasing my flute, but it is the best thing I ever did.

YOUR BACK!!!!

You so put me to shame on that Burtans Sonatina! Get this guys, I just sent him this peice yesterday and he can already play it! Not fair!!! Now that you taught me that trick with the C# trill key, I can play it. Thanks!

PS. I finally broke open that Champain that was bought for my anniversary on the 5th and Noah starting drinking it. MMMM... good stuff!

oh my word...a drunk cat! And from what I recall from that recording I sent you....I am nowhere near tempo! It does sound quite fabulous at a slower tempo though I must admit.
