Hey guys! Long time no talk! I heard that everything was back to normal here, so I figured I would give it a shot again. I am starting to feel OLD! I start college 2 weeks from Monday. I don't know what it's going to be like going to school with people 8 years my junior. All I am asking for is principal chair in the Concert Band and the University Philharmonia. If I get that, then I don't care who I go to class with.

I have been practicing nearly 5 hours every day getting ready for my auditions. We have so many pieces we have to play for it that it is mind-boggling. The clarinet audition is MUCH easier than the flute audition. I'm still going to do both. I guess that's it from me for now. Glad to be back, and hopefully I will have good news to report in a few weeks!

Go Dennis!!! So you did decide to do both. That is awesome. You kick @ss on both and I can't wait to hear all about your progress. I am really glad you came back on the board.

awww.why thank you! I decided to do both ONLY because the clarinet audition is SOOOO easy! Just 3 excerpts and a Concerto of our choice. The excerpts are Beethoven's 6th symphony mvt2, Hindemith Symphony in Bb, and Stravinsky Fireworks...cake! BTW, does anyone have a recording of Fireworks? Thanks!

Andrew,

Thanks for that! That does mean quite a bit to me. Good luck saving up that money...I am saving for a Full Concert Nagahara...Hopefully I will have that before my Junior Recital!

No...no.. no. You need a Powell! Lol!

<Added>

You may suprise yourself and actually prefer a Brannen or something. I can't wait to try a Nagahara. I am very happy with my flute, so that is a good thing because there is no way I have that kind of money for another flute!

Yes, well you yourself said that the nagahara head you put on it is freaking awesome. The most awesome thing EVER as I recall. I am thinking a Nagahara Head on a NAGARAHA would be pretty close to perfect if not perfect already. You know we're going to try all sorts of flutes when we go flute browsing at JLSmith. I might even grace the Powell with my embouchure. LOL!

Ooohh!! You are sooo bad! Verne Q Powell would be rolling over in his grave if he heard that! Sorry Verne...

Andrew,
I did get my flute back. I is so nice to have it back. It does still play awesome and even better with the Nagahara head. Someday I am going to get a Nagahara head with a solid gold lip and riser.

JLSmith has them, but they are not listed on their website

P.S. THe Sterling model isonly 10,200 starting I believe...then you add on the C# trill and the G Disk and Engraving because I sweat too much. Probably close to 12,000-13,000...but I also have a job that allows me to save for it. I am so happy not to have ever been bought an instrument except for my very first clarinet in 4th grade. My parents did well...I just wonder where I would be if they WERE able to afford a professional instrument when I was in school!

Well I guess that isn't too bad of a price. For some reason I was thinking they were more. I don't think that I am going to try one now. Me must now be tempted! My husband would blow another fuse! Besides, I really need to replace my car here soon.

Yeah, they aren't that bad...just the wait time...When you think about it, it's an awesome quality flute, and it'sjust about the same price as others, except Tom Green. His are cheaper, and I might try one. Oh My! I think Flutist06 might freak out with that comment. I, however, do not want gold!

What type of piano do you have? One of these days I would LOVE to get a Steinway (sp?) baby grand piano for my husband.
