Hey Chris,

Per your somewhat of a request...I have done the most horrible thing and made a recording of the 3rd movement of the Burton for you to listen to. It really isn't the greatest! I can only seem to play the whole movement at 95bpm. I can't get to 104 on the whole thing to save my life! I am not too proud of this recording so I will be taking it off soon...that means you better listen quick if you want to hear it! HAHAAH...

Aww....Thanks Dennis! I can't listen to it at the moment (the house is being vacuumed, and I can't hear anything over it), but I will listen as soon as I get the chance! Thank you so much for going to all that trouble just for me!

Well, I just got in about a minute and a half of it...And I don't think it's that bad at all! I mean, sure, it's not perfect, but considering the time you've had to work it all out, the difficulty of the piece, and the tempo you're taking it, it's pretty damn good for just a couple week's work. I say Bravo! Thanks for taking the time to make it for me!

Awhh.. man! There is something wrong with my quick time player so I can't hear it! Don't take it off just yet, I want to here. If you do, I will just make you play it over the phone to me. Ha! Ha! That freaky looking dude is on your song list thing again. What is up with that?

Crap. I forgot that i had to stop the upload because I named it wrong. That's when that guy pops up..when you interrupt the upload. I will take him off. By the way, I recorded that part of the Khachaturian Kara...but I don't think I can load it on my profile since the composer wrote it after 1923, and the composer is now dead so I cannot ask permission to post an excerpt.

I just got that last minute or so in, so if you'd like to delete it, you may as far as I'm concerned. I still think it was really good for only a short time to practice it! I'm glad I got to hear that!

LOL i was pushing it as far as time went on that last bit. I would have rerecorded the whole thing because of the last note normally. I had to rush out though...so I didn't have time to rerecord. This piece tends to tick me off so much that I just play and play...then throw it on the floor! LOL

I know how that is! The Carnival of Venice (Briccialdi) does the same thing to me!

Don't say that! Kara and I were JUST discussing that piece last night on the phone. That was my Junior or Senior year Solo and Ensemble piece in high school. I think I had been playing the flute for roughly 9 or 10 months. God I suck now compared.

Wow! What a coincidence! I can't imagine trying to pull of that piece with all it's various variations after only 9 months of playing! You must have had a lot of natural talent for the instrument!

It has all since disappeared! Yeah...the arpeggios and even the variations were easy to me. I could hear the melody in every variation QUITE easily. The arpeggios were also repetitive and easy to remember. All the runs were the same in the octaves...So you start with a 8 note run, but it's really two sets of the 4 note run just in different octaves. It's really not that difficult. I really believe that people take to pieces differently. I am sure there are people that could seriously fudge up the Khachaturian, but sightread the Ibert! I have seen it happen before.

That's soooo true. Everyone has their own set of strengths, so are naturally inclined to different pieces. For me, there are concerti that I can play that others would never touch, but then there are plenty of pieces that others play that I will never touch. All you can do is expand yourself as much as possible to be able to play as much music (well) as you can, and be happy with improving yourself, even if you don't become the next Galway or Rampal.

Ugh! Don't even get me started on The Carnival of Venice! My finger will not cooperate on that piece. I guess I am going to have to start over and take it slow. Then my ADD kicks in (joke) and I get about 5 measures in and give the peice to my rabbit to shred!

<Added>

Oh and don't let Dennis try to fool you. He plays that piece like a pro. I call him crazy fingers because there is nothing that man can't play!

From what I've heard of his recordings so far, I'm inclined to believe it!
