Does anybody know of recordings of the Haendel's Flute and Basso Continuo Sonatas, played on a modern flute? There seem to be very few recordings of this works, at least in Europe.

I have a 1991 CD of Stephen Preston with L'Ecole d'Orphee, but the tuning of his instrument is extremely low. Teacher says it could be a "Traverso", whatever it is.

The fact is that I would like to play along, but it is not possible for me with the YFL 684. Taking out the headjoint about an inch approaches his tuning but then everything else is off tune.

try www.amazon.com and look under Rampal or Larrieu or Galway, etc, you may be able to find good re-issues of Handel sonatas

A traverso is a simple system flute. It has holes, and a few keys, but is not nearly as complex as the modern Boehm flutes.

Thanks Patrick for the information and link.
Flutist06, I might have a Traverso at home! though I cannot make it sing. I will post photos in a few days (as soon as my ADSL is back in service).
