A while ago (around May), I ordered a new flute from a mail-order catalogue in a local music store. I haven't noticed when I first got the flute, but the pads are a dull white-yellow color! I checked my friend's Muramatsu pads, and they're all bright yellow. Is something wrong with the pads? (The flute plays just fine though.)

Don't worry about it. Pads are not uniform in color from any supplier. A certain batch will be and the next one might be a little different. As long as you flute plays fine. Don't worry about the color...It's just yellow dye variation.

Absolutely, Joe. I have my dad's old flute (which is dearly in need of a repad, but I haven't found the time yet), and it's pads have blue skin! I've seen yellow and white quite often too, not to mention JS gold and silver, etc. The color doesn't matter as long as they do their job.

Blue? Do you know if they have always been that color? How nifty. I want some purple ones!

I have pink pads on my Simba flute..they are not straubinger, I think they are depends...

Yup...They've always been blue! I think it's kind of cool....I'd opt for some red pads if I could find them!
