Okay this is why im soooooooooooo flipin mad. When i read pro flute players bio's i see that they did competions when they were younger and im like "i want to do a competion to see how its like or what i can get" . So i looked on google to see if they have any competions in Tucson ,az and i came across the young artist competion for flutes. Im like "yes, i found something that young people can do!!!". So i started to read it and guess how young you have to be, you have to be as young as 30 Thats not young come on people!! . So yeah im really mad now cuase theres nothing i can compete in, But there was this one thing that the youth orchestra was doing, and this guy told us 3days before the competion. so im like thanks for telling us now .

The verbage reads "To be eligible, contestants must be no older than 30 on March 24, 2007." That means the maximum age is 30, not the minimum.

wow i'd be ticked too. That really stinks! I was thinking that the word young mean't like um...children to like teenage years or in the early 20's lol. Apparently not to them lol.

I'm 15 too. Doesn't your school district have solo/ensemble competition? We have a couple around my community. Ummm. ask your band director. he probably has A LOT of suggestion.^^

Get involved in the regional/state competions and AllState competitions. That would be very beneficial for you at your age. Get with your band director and ask about honor bands and other activities that may feed your desire for competition.

Join the National Flute Association.
They hae an annual comp for young artists and their next festival is in N.M.

Also try competing against all of those old fogies in their 20s. Who knows, you might learn something and you just might be good enough to beat one of them.
