it looks just like a normal student flute which looks gold because of the lighting. the pics are so unnclear and unfocused!

I wrote to the seller and requested the serial number. Should be interesting.

as did I, they wrote back to say that they have to take it to a repair man to check it out, sounds very fishy, as Haynes, to my knowledge, never made flutes out of 18K

If I would do guess I would say that it is all gold PLATED. Why else would the cleaning rod also be gold and the latched on the case? Hmmm.....

Looks as fake as a thousand dollar bill if you ask me..

That is good to hear. Ebay has been doing a lot better at catching those scammers now, it used to be a lot worse.

I'm not so sure it's actually been removed. That link still takes me to the flute (which I have to agree does not look like an 18 karat Haynes), and searching the auction number on eBay takes you to the same spot. Have you gotten a response regarding serial number yet, Catman or Patrick?

I doubt if it will be bid on, but if it does maybe someone can e mail the winner (!!!! hardly) and tell them about the concerns we have, before they make payment ...... i would do it myself but the item ends at a difficult hour for me in the uk

I don't think you can even do that anymore. Ebay has made it so that you can not contact another ebay member unless you had a transaction with them.

it was gone, but now it is back, I alerted Haynes about it and wrote to the seller telling them that no one is being fooled...

evidentally, this flute is legit according to Haynes, just very very early gold flute
