I was playing a gig last night, and something hilarious (and rather stereotypical) happened, which I thought the folks here might enjoy.

Since this was a paying gig, people were contracted to play, and amongst those were 3 drummers. However, at the last minute, all three backed out, and had to be replaced. The director who was putting on the performance found one drummer, and since she was short a couple of folks, told him to bring some of his friends to the rehearsal and performance. So that's exactly what he did....He brought 3 of his buddies...Who had never played percussion in their lives!

I think drummers are about to rule the world. They actually do get the most credit in recordings these days. Notice I didn't say songs, as I am refering to rap. The drum beat is what carries the recording and the beat. Nothing musical there at all, it is often time totally non-musical. Yet, all the cavemen are grooving to it no matter in tribal fashion. The drums rule right now.

There is no question. Drum beat music is what is selling millions and millions of CDs, mp3s, and mp4s. It's not jazz that is selling, not even rock and roll. Coutnry is doing pretty well, but rap and hip hop with nothing but drums is what is selling the world today. So, drummers or should I say drum machines rule the world. Thanks Boss, Roland, Yamaha, and Korg for all those wonderful drum machines! Now we real musicians are no longer needed and we can go sit down and never play again. I will get fact and happy listening to a computer play drum beats for me from now on.
