I've had my beginner flute for little under a year now, but played flute for three. It's play perfectly until recently. My G, F and F# on the second octave are very tempermental, some times they play perfectly, but othertimes without the slightest change in embouchure or flow, they just produce a horrible airy sound, no tone atall.

Do I have a leak? I had a similar problem with a different flute and the Ab key was leaking, i've checked that out and that does not seem to be the case this time round. I would get my teacher to look over it, but I've just broken up for the 6 weeks holidays and need to practice for upcoming GCSE coursework and exams. I do not have enough money to send it to a repair shop at this time, and would like to at least identify the problem which is preventing me from playing properly.

Many thanks.

Perhaps our very experience tech Joe B can help you with that.

I would not be able to really tell without having a look at it myself. I am not experienced enough to try and diagnose a problem without looking at it if it is involving several keys. Sorry I couldn't help more. You might want to send Joe B. a private message. Best of luck with that.
