Well, you can always find public domain works like Yankee Doodle on websites like this one, or through a simple Google search. However, most flute music is protected under copyright law, so finding anything more substantial without paying will be difficult. I would encourage you to purchase a beginner's book from any music store to work out of....Essential Elements, Rubank, Standards of Excellence, or any other book at a similar level would probably suit.

I always like to pick up or find a few songs or fife or such.(Ireland and Scotland - jigs and the like). Most of it is public domain now and it's always plenty challenging.

You can also try getting a solo book for beginners if you are wanting to play tunes. You can master them easily, get better, and play something fun and nice.

Most of those books are intended as a fun supplement to beginner methods like the ones I listed, and used alone, likely will not have too much impact on your playing. Feel free to purchase such books too, but you'll want something that focuses on the different facets (and difficulties) of playing rather than just presenting you with popular tunes if you're serious about improvement.
