After some suffering, laughs are back to the Forum. Welcome be the humour!
I had been reflecting on what has happened recently and reached the following conclusion:
The Forum suffers from excess of communication. We communicate too well, we are too much clear in our questions and still more in our answers. And this is causing trouble.
But there is a solution to this: to darken the meaning of critical posts. As it is often impossible to know in advance what thread is critical (just anything come become a matter of strong discussions), I propose to darken everything.
This way, there is no possibility of jumping to answer (I mean, answer in relation with the original question or issue) and if we do it correctly, the potential readers will feel much tired and less prone to arguing.
Obscure meaning is the realm of politics and Zen philosophy. But the majority of us have no mastering of this illustrious science. This have made me decide to propose a few procedures. I will give some example of the results (when I can).
But the matter stays open and more and original ideas are welcome
In order of efficiency (less to plus) in making a post more difficult to read (and if possible, to understand):
1.- Avoid any and every punctuation. I agree, it is not much original and we have seen good examples recently.
2.- Resurrect those haunted word processors of our recent past, that write phonetically even against the will of their owners.
3. If writing phonetically is not enough (I am afraid it is not), we can use the phonetics of foreign languages, the less known, the better. This is how this sentence will look in spanish phonetics: "dis is jau dis sentens uld luc in espanish fonetics."
4. But people will soon learn (those who do not know it right now) the trick and I thing a further step must be taken: delete all spaces. After all, we know wher they should be, so what's the use?: disisjaudissentensuldlucinespanishfonetics.
But ater a while, this simple procedures will not be enough. It will be time for more drastic techniques:
5. invert the text, from right to left (easily made in hand writing, horribly difficult with a normal keyboard: scitenofhsinapseniculdlusnetnessiduajsisid
6. Last procedure I can imagine (before switching to a higher level) would be specular (or mirror) writing. That is, the way Leonardo a Vinci wrote to escape the inquisition. But this requires to develop a complete set of computer fonts and it will take me some time to finish it.
So we enter in the world of banking and of spies: encription. We could start with the simpler encryption keys, like the Caesar code.
7. A key to encrypt must be provided by the author of the post, consisting in an arbitrary long chain of random numbers. Each letter of the message will be changed up (or down) by the amount (position in the alphabet)defined by the corresponding digit in the key. (not necessary to lose time preparing an example of this, OK)
8. A nice variation, only valid for musicians is this: As we are so lucky that the notes in English are named with letters of the Alphabet, from A to G, we could modify each letter in the message that falls in this range with a third, a fifth or any other interval, the mos unusual, the better. The key to encode/decode the message could have the form of cipher basso Continuo, so that we can practise (or just learn) this ancient technique at the same time.
9. Of course, if the author really wants his/her message to be truly unbreakable, it can be ciphered with PGP, RSA and a few other systems.
More original ideas will help improve the site and keep peace for a longer period, so please contribute with new and better ideas.
