Its funny that you say that because I happen to be planning my wedding...lol...
My fiance and I have not really discussed the entertainment...but when we do, it will likely be a battle...he' in a rock/metal band...lol...so one could only imagine the type of entertainment HE would choose (although I couldn't imagine Megadeath playing at my wedding...)
I may be more open-minded about the music at the reception...
But I had a dream last night, and I think I want a trumpet processional for my walk down the isle...
Of course, I am on a very limited budget...and knowing of the massive egos of some/most trumpetists...I MIGHT have to go with a recording!! ROTFL!!

Around here, it's the DJ. Seems like every wedding it's always the same DJ canned music.. Y_M_C_A.....Chicken Dance>>>>....some Elec. Slide....

How about a flute soloist (ahem...Kara) to do an hour for the dinner music part? Maybe FL and harp is really nice. Even Fl and violin or acoustic guitar is neat.

Oh come on. Give me some credit. Of COURSE I already thought of that!!
YES, Kara is playing at my wedding!! But she's also a bridesmaid, so I'm not sure how that will work...lol...but I'll figure it out...
And since my fiancé plays the guitar, I think it would be cool if maybe he, Kate, and myself could work up a little something..maybe a flute duet w/ guitar accompaniment???

I don't have this music but I have the solos and they are kind of neat old fashioned hymn runes:

The Faithful Flute Duo (for 2 flutes and piano)
ed. Brent Olstad
Woodland Music Press

and

The Faithful Flute Duo volume 2
Brent Olstad
Woodland Music Press

see:

Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring - J.S. Bach
would be neat if you intertwine the descant and the hymn tune between the three instruments.

or even the BAch Sheep may safely graze.
Written for two flutes and all.

I think that it depends upon the setting.
Is this going to be at the service or reception.
Religious or romantic......or both.

A nice duet w/guitar at the reception would be nice. It leaves you open to playing almost any tune.
Wind beneath my wings, Danny boy, Love theme from your favorite movie (just not Titanic;-)

Well, honestly, I wouldn't call it a religious ceremony. We don't belong to any congregations.
But I definitely WOULD call it romantic; I want to keep a very intimate atmosphere.
My fiance is also a vocalist...I REALLY want him to sing.

Sorry, I was thinking of a few John Prine songs at that moment but I'm not making fun of your marriage.

I think something Romantic but it may have to come from something in your age bracket of music.

I'm a Led Zepp / Allman Bros. / Johnny Winter kind of guy.
