I'm confident that the issue has been brought up before --- I did look through previous threads, and the answer I was looking for was "close", but not there.

Anyway --- I happen to be left-handed. Interestingly enough, however, my right hand is the 'strongest' when it comes to playing.

I think it's a "psych-block" --- I'm terrified of that dreaded G# lever. That's what causes me the most problems.

I do practice from the Marcel Moyse book: 48 studies of virtuosity, and am currently trying to accomplish that famous "run" for flute, in An American in Paris.

I just wondered if anyone else, who is either left or right handed finds that "one hand is 'stronger' than the other" --- and if there's anyway to overcome this?

Also, is this particular to the flute due to the position in which we play it --- or is it just my "psych-block", in that I really dread any keys requiring ambitious use of the left hand --- 64th -- 128th notes?

I'm right handed. I haven't noticed any differences between my right and left hands.

Have you looked at your left hand position in front of a mirror to see what's happening with the G sharp key? Sometimes a slight change in hand/arm position makes difference.

this is a very interesting topic! hmm...I definitely put more pressure in my right hand without realizing it which is a very bad habit. I suppose that has something to do with handedness.
