Dear Forum:
As a "Member Laureate" of the forum --- I no longer post threads, as a rule --- but do like to visit and stay in touch once in awhile. I really miss this forum.
I have to thank Kara for introducing me to a flutist whom I never new existed: Rhonda Larson. She is rapidly becoming one of my favorite flutists --- if not my favorite.
This post has to do with vibrato --- and I agree with Kara, in that I think it's too often "over-done".
Possibly, it's used to hide "bad intonation"?
But I agree with Kara, that Rhonda Larson is among the best.
She brings the right amount of inflection (regarding vibrato) to her playing --- not over-done, just right. She has lovely tone, sonority --- and brings passion to her playing. She's great!
Marvelous talent. Listen to her playing at:

I wept, openly, when I heard one of her marvelous interpretations.
Again, I thank Kara for bringing to me, a flutist I never knew existed.
I hope you all visit the site and enjoy her playing as much as I do (I'm there, ten times per day).
Best to all: Jim
