Hi, There's always "A tune a Day" you could look at, which is very straight forward as you probably already know, there is a new version of this book out which has a cd accomp for about £14 i think, and then there's "Learn as you play flute" which i think is a little more grown up and more suitable for adults.

Hope that helps

I studied my first two years with the first two Trevor Wye's books. Sure they are available in England.

I forgot to mention that on the second year my teacher complemented T Wye with the first book by Henry Altes. This author follows an inverse path, starting the exercises from the second octave and going down. It was a good practise and has some nice melodies. I do not know if available in UK

I really like the William Kincaid - "The Art and Practice of Modern Technique for Flute" series.
