lol! No, I wasn't referring to you Jim. I am just fed up with the snotty a$$ people on the forum. They are anywhere where flutists hang out usually, so it is not just in this forum. Why on earth with this forum of all forums be your favorite when you are constantly being... shall I say.. challenge and not particularly in a good way either. I just miss some of my friends that used to post on here is all. People could be a little more friendlier, it starts to ware on me after a while.

<Added>

To my friends on this forum, (you do know who you are) I was in no way referring to you :) Just wanted to make that clear.

Thank you for your kind remarks, Kara.

I agree that there are some members who have left the forum, and I'm very sorry for this. I sincerely hope it wasn't on my account of my stupid (earlier) posts, before I learned how to "behave" on this forum.

I will admit that my "earlier" posts were absolutely ridiculous. I've learned my lesson --- and, I promise you, that the LAST thing in this world be that I would want, is to disrupt this forum, in any way.

Again, I'm stupid, new, and just trying to fit in. (I'm getting better --- at least, that's what my doctor said).

I should tell you that I really enjoy your replies, because they're so down-to-earth and very insightful. I enjoy your sense of humor and remarks.

IF you ever left this forum, then I would sell my flute and take up exotic dancing, or something. Of course, I wouldn't make much money --- but it would be better than disrupting this forum.

My most sincere regret is that we could never have become friends. This is sincere.

You know, there are so many people on this forum who have so much to contribute, including you --- and I've learned so much.

If only I could turn the clock back --- but I can't.

This not an apology. I just wanted to say that I really appreciate everything you've contributed to this forum.

I was just too new and too stupid to recognize it. This comes from my heart and is extended to a fellow flute-player.

Have a nice Holiday --- and a great 2008!

Warmest regards: Jim

Glad to hear that someone at least appreciates my warped sense of humor. Roger was always the best at that, I miss him He got tired of a couple of real snobs pestering him on the group and closed his account. It is too bad only a couple people can ruin a good person like that. We will miss him.

So Merry Christmas to all. Yep, I said that already. But, I am in he Christmas spirit today

Oh and to you snobs out there.. blow it out your kazoo!

Oh yummy... Dave is making home made bread and spaggetti. It smells soooo good! I am super hungry! Too bad I can't share the aroma with you all over the computer.

Jim, life it too short to hold a grudge.

Jim, I'm not asking this out of cruelty or anger or in an attempt to humiliate or reflect anything negative upon you, but are you mentally ill?

Again, I'm not being mean, it's nothing to joke about and people who are mentally ill are often misunderstood and treated as if it's their fault. I'm sorry if this question is offensive, but it's a genuine question so we'll understand better how to interact with you.

No, Tim, I'm not mentaly ill.

My remarks to Kara were a joke. Sorry if it was taken the wrong way (by you).

What I was saying, is that my earlier posts (some time ago) were "dictatorial" and out-of-place.

I made the foolish mistake in thinking that I was coming to a site populated by "absolute beginners" --- and took it upon myself to be the "know-it-all".

I was soon put into my place (rightfully so) by those who are more conversant on this site than I could ever be. That was my "surprise".

A lesson, well learned.

Do my articulate writings seem as though they are authored by a "mentally-incompetent" person?

You can be the judge.

My writings may well be controversial and opinionated, but I can promise you that they are authored by a person who is in complete control of his faculties.

Hope this answers your question.

Jim

Ok, I only asked because you've made a couple of references to your doctor saying you're getting better. It wasn't exactly clear what was meant by that.

Tim:

It was only a joke. You have to learn to accept my ridiculous attempt at humor. As in, Woody Allen.

But, thanks for asking --- and your concern.

Regards, Jim

And, by the way, I apologize to you for your not having "jumped in" and answered to your post on the Prelude. You clarified your reason.

Again, I was out of place in having said this.

As has been pointed out --- I have no way of knowing whether or not you read the lovely dialogue between jose_luis and Bilbo (et al).

I simply found the thread you posted very insightful, and the responses very enlightening and informative, and hope you did, too.

I'm sure it didn't escape your attention that this is a very lenghthy post, with a lot of responses --- some of which segued into different areas, so allowed, but did provide remarkable insights.

Best of luck to you with the "Prelude".

Regards, Jim

Thanks Patrick. I have never heard of a Miele vacuum. I am sure my mom has though, she knows her vacuums like I know my flutes brands. I did try out a dyson, but heck... they wanted $500 for it!! It has a lifetime warranty though, and that would be sensible for us since we go through a vacuum about once a year anyway. Maybe next year.

Kara, Happy birthday :-)
and many more with good fluting to boot.
I also hope that you bunny isn't so stuck in the vacuum that it can't hop free. I don't think that our pippin bunny could manage well inside of a vacuum cleaner hose. Probably freak out and shred the hose in julienne fashion.

<Added>

Yeah those Dysons are expensive. I'm going to keep buying the bags for our trusty (but loud) hoover.

Happy Birthday Kara!!
I remembered your birthday (it's the same day as one of my daughters), I was just a little caught up with the THREE birthdays we have in December (daughter #1 turned 17, daughter #2 will soon be 14, and grandson turned 2). We had a picnic in the park (perfect weather!!)

I solved the vacuum issue....I have all wood floors (and some tile) and we mop instead!

I haven't posted, because I still can't figure out what is going on around here. Why has this place been completed overrun by one?

Kara, happy belated birthday. What is this, 21? I'll buy you a shot.

I also go through a vacuum a year. I have to empty the canister every time I use it, and I only have one cat. Sometimes twice in one session, one for upstairs and one for downstairs.

"Otherwise the ambiguity turns the forum to a shambles of misunderstanding."

I like that turn of phrase Micron. ;-)
Of course we are generally of a flute mind on this forum and that can be a good thing or a bad thing. If we were say trombonists (Not that they are bad) we may slide into an agreement or slide away from this shambles of misunderstanding but since we are flutists we may be sharply drawn into some sort of a black hole of misunderstanding.

I think that what could have been happening here (hopefully forever in the past) is that some of us older members go back some time to a previous forum which was basically torn apart by a certain measure of strife. We are a bit aprehensive of anyone that may be viewed as a person who maybe intentionally trying to cause a similar situation again and we may try to take actions against them. If the person who is viewed as a cause of this trouble is one that is willing to hold their ground with great tenacity, then sparks may fly. These sparks would fly in all directions unfortunately and this leaves some form of a bad taste for all involved. I think that right now, that if I had to do things again it most likely would have been done differently. So, from not knowing what to say further to improve or to fix these things, I can only say that I want everyone here to have a great holiday season and a great new year.
