I AM GOING TO DO THIS IN MOSTLY ALL CAPITAL LETTERS BECAUSE THIS IS HOW MUCH I LOVED THEM!!! :0

AVANTI 1000: GREAT RESPONSE AND INTONATION!! IT HAS A VERY CLEAN CRISP SOUND THAT IS GREAT WITH ARTICULATION AND THE LOWER REGISTER IS SUPERB!! MECHANISM IS FIT AND TIGHT. AND IT LOOKS NICE AS WELL! WAY BETTER THAN ANY OTHER INTERMIDIATE FLUTE I HAVE TRIED!

AVANTI 2000: LET me just tell you one thing, get the Avanti 1000. THE 2000 is VERY OVER RESISTANT!! it is good to have some resistance but to much makes it no fun to play.

SORRY FOR IT BEING SO SHORT BUT YOU REALLY NEED TO TRY THEM!! GET THE 1000!! (the price is very nice too!!)

:0

Thanks for the review. They didn't have any at the flute fair so I never got to try one I have only heard three reviews so far. Two that said they were great and one that didn't like them.

ok, im sorry im weird...

maybe it was because it was at a music show and had the potential to be out of adjustment. that would make even the best flute sound like s***

it is always great to find a flute you love, but, from my experience, when you find a flute that responds well and plays very bright and easy, it can often be the case that it always sounds that way, that is not to say it isn't a great flute..

as you mature, you may find you like a flute with resistance, it makes for more color and variance of timbre, this is why, at least here in New York, most pros use classic era Boston made flutes, many with the original headjoints...

Interesting post about the preference of the "lower" model Avanti. I had a very similar conversation with a lady in my community band. She recently purchased an Azumi and she tried out both models and she liked the "lower" model best and purchased it. I think she also stated resistance as one of the determining factors. I was wondering if this was because her previous flute was a Yamaha 300 so the specs were more similar to the "lower" model Azumi.

But hey, I don't see anything wrong in preferring the less expensive model. Saving money is always a good thing. I've been wanting to test out both the Avanti and the Azumi but I haven't gotten a chance to yet. Plus I'm not in the market for a new flute right now (love my Sankyo).
