I am interested in composing music and tried to write a trio. I had a few of my classmates play them and they sound "terrible." Does anyone have any experience with composing music and can give me some basic details? I know it is a complicated topic so if anyone knows any article or website on that it would save lots of time.

even if you have a great melody in your head, you need to learn the language of music, which means you need to learn basic theory, how things work...get a good teacher, take some basic classes and learn keyboard..then you will be able to put your ideas on paper..
